Forbes and Emily are classy people. They dress incredibly well. They’re considerate and punctual. They have great manners and are great at holding a conversation. It was such a joy to work with them to create these classy engagement portraits at Hermann Park.
Forbes and Emily live out of town, so I had never met them before their engagement session. I’m pretty introverted, so meeting new people always makes me a little nervous. But Forbes and Emily are so personable that any nervousness I had vanished immediately.
Emily told me, “Forbes hates pictures.” I hear this a lot, so I reassured him that he’d have fun and it wouldn’t be as bad as he expected. But he told me, “I hate pictures of stuff like brunch. These pictures have a purpose. I’m all about these.” I knew that we would have a great time.
And we did.
Here’s a quick story to tell you what kind of people Forbes and Emily are.
During our session I told them that I’m a really simple person. Once I find something I like, I stick with it. I have about 9 shirts, 5 of them in the same color (grey), and two pairs of the same pants in different colors. When I go to a restaurant, I always order the same thing. And the only liquor I drink is Maker’s Mark.
We left Hermann Park and went to Tiny Boxwoods. Forbes and Emily got there before me and when I arrived they had ordered me an old fashioned with Maker’s.
These sort of things always really stick out to me. It was a throw away conversation, not really something I would ever expect them to remember. But not only did they remember it, they went out of their way to serve me.
I’m reminded all the time of how lucky we are to have the greatest couple’s anyone could hope for.
